Ranch sculptor Robert Holmes achieves a striking synthesis of
the abstract and the figurative. Sparsely detailed and unadorned,
his works possess a Spartan beauty and visually commanding presence.
By distilling the human form to its essential elements, Holmes
achieves a rare quality of elegant grace. He strives to express
the "humor and the joy of life," as well as its natural
beauty.
" Mr. G," the bronze sculpture, featured La Jolla
Crossroads, recently received the highly acclaimed Premio del
Presidente Award at the International Biennial of Contemporary
Art in Florence, Italy. Holmes also received the Premio Lorenzo
il Magnifico, the exhibition's prestigious lifetime achievement
award. More than 800 artists from 74 countries were selected
to take part in this international event. |
